Day Trips from Alicante

Altea a medieval town

Alicante is a famous little city on the Costa Blanca. Home to some of the best beaches in Spain, along with a beautiful Old Town, it’s been a popular holiday destination for many years!

If you want a break from relaxing on the beach or eating your bodyweight in paella, then check out some of these wonderful day trips from Alicante to explore nearby areas of Spain:

Get amazing views in Calpe

Calpe is a mesmerizingly brilliant town with a very rich history. The streets are littered with fascinating attractions from both the Romans and Moors. There’s a Moorish Castle that offers a glimpse into the town’s past, and a beautiful little museum as well. You can still enjoy some fantastic beaches here as well, but the main reason to visit Calpe is the Rock of Ifach.

This rock is like a mini mountain as it extends into the sky and provides some of the best views around. Head to the top, and you can see all over the small town and nearby areas; it’s an incredible experience. To top things off, you get all of this just an hour or so from Alicante – it’s the perfect day trip.

Walk through the medieval streets of Altea

The best thing about day trips is that they give you an experience you won’t get in your chosen holiday destination. Altea offers this, which is why it’s such a great day trip from Alicante. This town has a medieval and Moorish background, and it’s really quite spectacular. If you’re used to busy cities and modern buildings, then this will be a breath of fresh air.

It’s a pretty place with cobbled streets and white buildings, with the Nuestra Senora del Consuelo standing tall in the centre. This is a glorious domed church that looks just as good inside as it does outside. Enjoy a long walk through this town, and get a bite to eat at one of the many little restaurants serving authentic Spanish cuisine.

Tour the chocolate factory in Villajoyosa

It’s got joy in its name, and there’s plenty of joy to be experienced in Villajoyosa.

Villajoyosa in Spain

It looks like a typical coastal city; stunning beaches, icy blue sea, and plenty of sun all day long. But, at the heart of the city lies Valor’s Chocolate Museum. Here, you can tour the factory and see how this iconic Spanish chocolate is created. Then, get some samples to bring with you as you wander around the beautiful streets.

There are vibrant buildings and homes dotted around the city, making this an excellent destination for some phenomenal Instagram photos! With both chocolate and beaches on offer, what more can you want out of a day trip?

By all means, there will be lots for you to do in Alicante itself. But, if you want to check out other towns and cities in Spain, then you’re blessed with some amazing day trips. Consider any of these three offerings if you’re looking to broaden your horizons and get a taste for something new and different during your stay.
