Zaragoza is one of the crown jewels of Spain, sitting proudly in the North Eastern region of the country. Your time here will be filled with a plethora of stunning attractions and cultural masterpieces.

There’s definitely no shortage of things to do in the city, but there’s even more to do in the surrounding areas.

Due to its location, you can enjoy many day trips from Zaragoza that will take you to wonderful parts of Spain. So, if you want to uncover hidden gems or take in iconic sights, then check out our picks for the top day trips to go on:

Experience the beauty of Huesca

Head a little bit further north of Zaragoza, and you will come across Huesca. As far as cities go, this is one of the most beautiful around.

Immediately, you notice that this is a place almost constructed for tourists. There are so many unbelievable things to see and do here, with astoundingly beautiful architecture and lots of interesting museums.

If you fancy taking a walk and exploring some natural beauty, then there are two parks near Huesca that are well worth venturing to. There’s the Ordesta and Monte Perdido National Park, which is home to a UNESCO World Heritage site. There are some immense mountains to explore and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. For sports lovers, go to the Canones de Guara Natural Park, which is where loads of outdoor activities regularly take place.

See the Reserva Natural de los Galachos de la Alfranca

A very short distance away from Zaragoza lies one of the most impressive nature reserves in Spain.

The Reserva Natural de los Galachos de la Alfranca is unique in that it almost resembles something you’d see in Africa or Florida. It’s a wetland area made up of numerous lagoons with tall grass littering the banks. It’s a real sight to behold, and you will spot so many rare birds and other forms of wildlife here.

There’s really nothing else like this in the entirety of the country, so you better give it a visit while you’re close. The sounds of the animals will fill your ears, and the natural beauty will dazzle your eyes.

Also, there’s a park and garden nearby, which you can walk around and look at all the beautiful flowers and greenery as well. Plus, there’s a cafe and free parking so you can drive there from Zaragoza if you want!

Spend the day in Barcelona

Barcelona is only 2 hours away by train, making it the perfect place to go for a day trip from Zaragoza.

The beauty of this is that you can save money by staying in Zaragoza, but still get to explore one of the world’s best tourist destinations.

There are almost too many things to do in Barcelona, so make a list of all the main attractions and tick them off in one day. Of course, you have to see all the fantastic Gaudi designs in the city, such as La Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, and Casa Mili. Round things off with some stunning Catalan cuisine, and you can return to Zaragoza with a full belly and a fair few things ticked off your bucket list.

Spice up your trip to Zaragoza by going on one of these three incredible day trips. They’re all nearby, and each one can give you an experience that you won’t necessarily get if you spend all your time in this popular Spanish city.
