Hikers are attracted to the country as the temperatures begin to drop in the autumn months. While the country is known for its flat plains, hiking opportunities abound in the foothills of the Pyrenees and along the rocky coastlines. While Spaniards flock to the Canary Islands during the summer, the autumn season is more popular with Brits, Germans and Scandinavians. Flights are good value while temperatures are still significantly better than a northern European summer.
